Artists Talks Series: Crochet Protective Mask

Regine Sawyer
Stitches&Yarn, Lockettdown Productions

Regine does it all. She paints, draws, crochets, and tells stories! Creativity is in her DNA. Regine cites her Mom’s influence, as her teacher and guide, having exposed her to making and creating things. Regine’s Mom kept her busy, giving her the opportunity to sample many different crafts. She learned to knit, crochet, weave, needle point, and how to spool knit from an Aunt. Regine, took to crocheting, honed her skill and found herself being commissioned to design crochet wear, thus the dawn of her label Stitches & Yarn. Regine founded Lockettdown Productions in 2007, a small publishing house, where she writes, creates and publishes her original comics which includes Sci-Fri originals The Rippers, Ice Witch, and Eating Vampires in the horror genre. She has also written articles and essays regarding the culture of race and gender in the world of comics. A crocheter and storyteller at heart, Regine has recently taken to crocheting masks, and offering live step by step instruction on mask construction on Instagram during her time in quarantine and has taken to doing some painting as well. https://linktr.ee/stitchesandyarn
