Petrichor Dyed {formerly Leo Pontius}
Petrichor Dyed is a trans-owned, size inclusive garment upcycling project by Brooklyn-based artist Leo Pontius. Designs are inspired by the beauty of our interconnection with the natural world. The dye techniques used allow the pigments, water, gravity, and time to play an important part in the final design - each piece is a collaboration with the elements. The intention is that, in some small way, this may remind the wearer that they too are a unique and indispensable part of this ecosystem. Garments are hand selected for upcycling, sourced from thrift stores and estate sales. Only high quality natural fiber garments are used, with a preference for garments that have stains or discoloration, since they are unlikely to be purchased but can easily dyed over and given new life.
