Celebrate a rich history of fiber arts

Join us for a wonderful, community based fiber & handmade festival in the heart of Brooklyn, New York — the Annual Kings County Fiber Festival.

The date for the 2024 Fair is Saturday, October 12th, 2024, with a rain date of October 26th. It takes place at The Old Stone House & Washington Park* located in Park Slope, Brooklyn NYC.

*Washington Park is a New York City public park.  NYC regulations are in effect: no smoking, pets, barbecuing/grilling, or use of alcohol or illegal drugs.

  • The Kings County Fiber Festival serves to encourage the revival of traditional fiber arts.  The Festival embraces both fiber and handmade artists and the resource providers that make their work possible.  Hosted on the grounds of the Old Stone House of Brooklyn & Washington Park* – originally built in 1699 as the Vechte family farm – the Kings County Fiber Festival includes crocheters, dyers, felters, knitters, quilters, spinners, and weavers, as well as artists creating design works that incorporate fiber as an integral material. Our goal is to raise awareness of both historic and contemporary approaches to the fiber arts.

  • The festival and demonstrations are FREE to attend and participate in. Vendors have finished clothing, accessories, decorations and Fiber Arts supplies available for purchase also.

  • The festival opens to the public at 10am and closes at 5pm. It is only held on one day, Saturday October 12th, 2024.

  • By subway, take the F, G, or R train to 4th Ave/9th Street, or the R to Union Street. By bus, take the B63 to 5th Ave/3rd Street or B103 to 4th Ave/4th Street.

On-street parking is available, though space is often limited.  Please be aware that stretches of 5th Avenue, including the block between 3rd and 4th Streets, are closed to traffic from 10 am – 10 pm for Open Streets through end of October.

  • The Kings County Fiber Festival takes place outdoors around Washington Park. Washington Park is readily accessible to and usable by individuals with disabilities and mobility limitations. Vendors are in tents along the paved sidewalk and paved paths inside the park. (There’s an illustrated map on the Vendors page.)

    Please note:

Some events are held inside the Old Stone House. The ground floor of the House is accessible with a low curb at the entrance. The second floor is up 18 stairs. The Old Stone House is prioritizing and actively advocating for increased accessiblity. An elevator is scheduled to be installed in 2026.

Please, don’t hesitate to contact us with questions about accessibility.

  • The rain call will be made no later than October 10th: If there a 30%-or-more chance of rain forecasted for the 12th then the event will move to it’s rain-date, October 26th, 2024.
